Therapy can be an integral component of better mental and physical health. My goal as an individual and marital therapist is to encourage you to become your better self; a self that is healthy, happier, more aware of feelings, behaviors and defenses. Through the process of therapy our goal is for you to be able to experience life and your relationships in a way that is fuller and more alive.
Often when people find themselves in need of counseling they are in distress. They may feel out of control, anxious, depressed or sad, or their relationships are struggling. The simple things in life may be too difficult, they are drinking too much alcohol, or emotionally eating. Frequently people struggle with their symptoms or situations in silence which exacerbates their negative feelings. For some, the thought of sharing their situation makes them feel too vulnerable or too exposed. My approach to therapy is to provide a respectful, safe and nonjudgemental environment so that you can explore the issues that are causing you problems. Using the skills that already work for the client, we then expand those skills to correct what isn't working.
